With all the fears going on out there, we thought it was important to share some general information about natural hand cleaner and what to consider when making them for yourself.
First of all, know that hand cleaner is not a replacement for Washing Hands
As hand cleaner does not kill all bacteria, soap and water are still the best way to get bacteria off your hands completely. You should wash thoroughly, in between all fingers, back of hands, and under fingernails, for at least 20 seconds, but more is good too.
IMPORTANT: Do not just use Marseilles Remedy, it will NOT be enough .
While Marseilles Remedy is naturally antibacterial it does need to be mixed with at least 60% alcohol to be effective as a hand cleaner. This means that the percentage of alcohol in the mixture needs to be at least 60%, so if you are mixing it with water or any other carrier ( like aloe gel), you should use a stronger percentage of rubbing alcohol.
Our recipe is:
- 8 ounce bottle
- 4.8 ounces of 99% rubbing alcohol
- 3 ounces water
- 5 ml Marseilles Remedy Thieves-Style Oil
Shake and spray locally on counters, doorknobs, lightswitches and your hands.
